Evans

The name Evans in Ireland is usually of immigrant origin having been introduced into the country by settlers from Wales. It is sometimes an anglicized form of the Gaelic O'hEimhin Sept of Counties Kilkenny and Tipperary. This Gaelic name is taken from a word meaning 'swift'.
